it's a lot of "dry brush" which is something i've been working on and gives it a more drawing like look.... ruins the brushes though

my only suggestion to you would be to just go for it. we are all our worst critics.
But you do it, no matter how it comes out, because simply.... you have to.
I think we are all too concerned with the technicalities of how things "should turn out" or should be defined as, instead of throwing ourselves head first into the process.
I guess, most things born truly, and passionately from the heart, don't really follow- or care much for- the "rules."
Your heart on canvas might look nothing like my heart on canvas- doesn't mean it's not just as beautiful.
